From Business Owner to Preschool Owner: Building a Positive Male Presence in Early Childhood Education

Not everyone who takes the Responsible Adult Course is planning to work directly with children every day — and one student's story shows just how far the certificate can take you in a completely different direction.

He came to us as a businessperson, not someone with a background in early childhood education. His goal wasn't to run a home daycare — it was something bigger: opening a licensed preschool. He earned his Responsible Adult certificate, then went on to hire qualified early childhood educators to handle the day-to-day teaching and care.

His own role became more of a business operator — managing the books, overseeing the school — while still staying involved by participating in activities with the children directly. Part of what motivated him was wanting to be a positive male figure in a field that's often made up mostly of women, giving young children in his preschool that presence and role model.
